Abqaiq Community Services has agreed to re-open the golf course and driving range for community residents beginning on Sunday May 31, 2020 from 07:00 to 19:00 hrs with the following precautionary safety measures in place.
On another note, Paul tells us the ground crews will be working hard to get the course back up to prime playing condition. Currently, the browns are in reasonable condition, but fast. Be warned.
Unfortunately, the course has now been closed to play. We tried all we could to remain open, but due to the nature of the current environment, and with the health and safety of our residents in mind, Recreation has determined that it is best to close the course.
We will keep you posted should anything change.
As part of our commitment to keep the community safe, while striving to keep the golf course open for play, the following guidelines will be in effect:
Please note that the above precautions must be strictly adhered to. Failure to comply could result in the closure of the course.
There have been recent complaints that not all of the completed rounds are being entered into the handicap system. From the USGA handicap System Manual - Section 1-1.Purpose:
Two basic premises underlie the USGA Handicap System, namely that each player will try to make the best score at every hole in every round, regardless of where the round is played, and that the player will post every acceptable round for peer review. The player and the player's Handicap Committee have joint responsibility for adhering to these premises.
Each player should enter their acceptable rounds immediately after the round is played. Or better yet, players can enter their scores while playing, by using the Mobil Portal, or downloading the GolfSoftware app onto their smart phone.
When the app asks for your golf organization's website, use the following (angc.golfgroup.info). Sign in using your account details. You can get your details from the handicap page.
This will be even more important beginning in January 2020, when we change to the World Handicap System. Handicap indexes will be updated every day, so a completed round must be entered immediately.
The bunker shown is just before the brown on No. 10. There are a couple of issues to point out here:
The fact that a mat was used in the bunker may indicate that the player is new to the game and unaware of these specific issues. We ask that all members remind their playing partners of local rules and general golf ettiquite.
Bookings for Golf Carts can now be made on-line. Links have been added to the Tournament Schedule pages.
An invoice will be emailed to you once you have made the booking. Contact details to pick up the key and make your payment will be provided in the email.
